Functions of Closed Loop Stepper Control
Closed-loop Motor Control Prevents Step Loss
Phase currents are assigned directly to the motor drivers, typical for stepper motor drivers. This results in current vector which should be followed by the rotor. The rotor position will be directly sampled by encoder feedback. The closed-loop motor control now monitors the resulting load angle.
Closed-loop motor control saves energy
Besides the load angle tracking, it is also possible to assign different current scale values for different load situations. Thus, lower load situation can be used to save energy. During low load phases, lower current levels will be assigned to the motor driver, whereas the maximum current will be applied if the load limit is reached.

Notes on Closed Loop Stepper Control
Motor Stalling or Skipping Steps:
Check for mechanical obstructions, ensure the motor is not overloaded, and verify that the power supply is adequate.
Encoder Signal Noise:
Ensure that encoder cables are shielded and connections are secure. Check for proper grounding.

Calibrate the encoder and verify that the encoder resolution is set correctly in the controller software.
